Punching/Laser Cutting

Metal punching is the process of creating holes, slots, or other shapes in metal sheets or plates using mechanical force. This technique typically employs a specialized machine called a punch press, equipped with a die and a punch.

The metal workpiece is positioned beneath the punch and die assembly, and when the press is activated, the punch is forced through the metal, cutting out the desired shape.This process is both quick and efficient, making it a cost-effective method for mass-producing components with consistent hole patterns or shapes. It’s commonly used in various industries, including automotive, electronics, and construction, where precision and speed are essential for manufacturing parts and components. New machine has an electric turret for punching along with fiber laser for cutting.  The machine has a 10-pallet automation tower as well.

Laser Cutting

Laser cutting is a highly precise and efficient metal fabrication process that utilizes a focused laser beam to cut through metal sheets and plates. Due to its ability to produce clean, intricate cuts with minimal material waste it’s employed throughout a variety of industries. 

During laser cutting, a computer-controlled laser device emits a concentrated beam of light onto the metal surface, melting or vaporizing the material along the designated cutting path. The intense heat generated by the laser is carefully controlled, ensuring minimal distortion or damage to the surrounding metal. This precision makes laser cutting ideal for crafting complex designs, intricate patterns, and custom parts, offering manufacturers a versatile and cost-effective method for metal fabrication.

Forming/Bending – Amada ATCs and Trumpf Press Brakes

By using specialized equipment, such as hydraulic press brakes, metal sheets or plates can be reshaped into specific shapes or angles without cutting or removing material. To accomplish this, the metal workpiece is placed between a punch and a die on a press brake, and force is applied to bend the material to the desired angle. This process allows for the creation of various complex shapes, curves, and angles, making it a crucial step in manufacturing components like brackets, enclosures, and automotive parts

    Machining

    Machining is a fundamental metal fabrication process that involves removing material from a workpiece to create precise shapes and dimensions and is carried out using various machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, drills, and grinders, depending on the specific operation required. During machining, the workpiece is securely clamped, and a cutting tool, typically made of hardened steel or carbide, is brought into contact with the material. This tool, guided by computer numerical control (CNC) or manually operated machinery, precisely cuts, drills, grinds, or otherwise shapes the metal to meet design specifications.

    Welding

    Grinding

    The removal of material from a workpiece’s surface using abrasive particles to improve surface quality, remove imperfections, and create precise dimensions is known as “grinding.” During grinding, the workpiece is secured in place, while a grinding wheel – often composed of abrasive materials like aluminum oxide or silicon carbide – rotates at high speeds and comes into contact with the metal surface. The abrasive action of the grinding wheel gradually removes material, resulting in a smoother and more precise finish or achieving the desired shape.
